The bombs fell

‘I wonder what it’s like up there.’ 

Andrew didn’t reply so Nathan continued. 

‘Think about it. Do you think grass has started growing again? Or trees? I feel like the bark up there would be different.’ 

‘Different how?’ Andrew asked. 

‘The trees might be larger so maybe… you know, the bark.’ Nathan grasped in the air, trying to pull the word he searched for from it. 

‘Would they grow different? We got sunlight here too. Unpolluted.’ 

Nathan shot his friend a doubtful glance. Andrew shrugged. 

‘You know how it is. It’s always bombs, shelters and war to them. Never trees.”
